ARTIST STATEMENT

The art image is the externalization of very real internal worlds. Its meaning is never openly apparent, and each creation is likely to be a surprise to the viewer. Even the artist is surprised by the objectified manifestation of an inner world. Without the complexity of internal realities, vividly expressed works of art would be meaningless exercises. True art is always unique and personal.

An authentic art object will never look like the styles of other artists. Authentic imagery will emerge if artists allow their art to issue forth from deeply-rooted psychic connections. The stronger the art, the less derivative the images will be. This only happens when the artist insists on shaping the creative object by crossing the boundaries of conscious thought and intention to tap into an internalized personal world, which is only accessible through the art object.

The reason art museums are so popular is that viewers can see works of art that reflect the inner worlds of other humans, thus establishing a sympathetic relationship with the community of mankind. As we can imagine, this fact is an extraordinary motivator for the appreciation of all the arts – in whatever form and however they surface.

Also, there is no singular or definitive interpretation of  works of art. This fact individualizes viewer participation and appreciation and will expand the potential meanings of artistic statements.

So my thought for the viewing audience is: Always look for the original, unique, and independent voice. In a swift moment, with a penetrating, unselfish look, the viewer is united with the best of human nature. True works of art, such as da Vinci's Mona Lisa and Van Gogh's Starry Night, are meaningful,soul-exposing expressions, rich in depth and accessible by intuition.

Although works of art can be decorative, their primary function is expression. Therefore, expect the art object to foster a connective union between the viewer and the artist's inner reality, and expect this relationship to be non-verbal. Works of art are, above all, authentic communicators.
